Of course there is a pattern in the speech writing. He addressed all the problems that the United States of America had, and how to solve those problems step by step. Mostly, the same rhetorical and literary devices are used.
The most rhetorical devices popped up in my head were, anecdote, rhetorical climax, reader inclusion, repetition, and chiasmus. Most of the rhetorical devices used in both speeches were making his speech more powerful, meaningful, and more effective.
These particular techniques are used because that rhetoric is a technique that an author or speaker uses to evoke an emotional response in the audience. These emotional responses are central to the meaning of the work or speech, and should also get the audience's attention. Usage of rhetorical device techniques can give an auxiliary meaning, idea, or feeling to the literal or written, it has a powerful literary effect as well as bearing within it implicit emotional or psychological suggestions in relation to the speaker or the subject.
But for the time the election started, I was delighted to see Obama’s success. I fear for him however being Black in a world where that can up your chance of being harmed for no other reason than being black. There is a lot of hope and promise in the personage of Barack Obama. I am used to disappointment in not seeing dreams and plans come to fruition due to mysterious circumstances including the ultimate sacrifice for one’s beliefs. The man is courageous if nothing else.
“God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.”
